This grant is designed to empower innovative investigations that challenge conventional approaches and expand our understanding of human health and performance in the world’s most demanding conditions.

Research Translation $500
AEEM is committed to bridging the gap between scientific discovery and real-world application. This grant supports research translation efforts that aim to convert evidence-based findings into practical tools, protocols, or interventions that improve health outcomes in extreme or austere environments.

Funding Criteria
Applicant must:
Project must:
Funding decisions are competitive and based on project significance, feasibility, budget, and potential for publication.
- Be a financial member of AEEM.
- Not have received an AEEM grant in the past year. Apply in only one grant category.
- Submit a complete application following the required format (see instructions and templates below).
Project must:
- Be clearly defined and completed within 18 months of award notification.
- Make a meaningful contribution to extreme environment medicine.
- Have ethical approval and trial registration (if applicable)
- Be distinguishable if part of a larger research program.
Funding decisions are competitive and based on project significance, feasibility, budget, and potential for publication.

- Proof of ethics approval for studies involving human subjects and/or clinical trial registration (if applicable).
- A progress report is required one year after funding, detailing project status.
- Findings must be submitted as an abstract for presentation at a future AEEM conference.
- Projects are expected to lead to a publication in ExMedicine.
- All publications must acknowledge AEEM as the funding source.
- Awardees must notify AEEM when funded work is published if published else where.
